Abarth 595 Ceramic Coating

Those that are in the know, know that Fiat paint can be on the softer end of things and as a result can mar quite easily if improper washing technique is used. Add in the fact that this Abarth has black paint and you have a recipe for plenty of visible scratches and swirls.

Our client was looking to remove these swirls to enhance the glass of the paintwork and also have the soft-top seen to. So we did exactly that - removed the scratches and swirls via a single stage paint correction and restored the soft-top. In addition, we locally sourced an exact paint match for the wheels to touch-up a minor kerbing that had taken place.

Firstly, a multi-step deep clean of the exterior was completed. A deep clean of the roof was also completed at this stage. The image below shows that someone has used a pressure washer quite close to the surface which can cause damage and leaves a characteristic pattern. A comprehensive paint depth inspection was completed and report provided to the client. This informed us of areas of the car which had had prior corrective work and further informed us of the best and safest approach for correction.

This was followed by a chemical removal of iron-based contamination and tar spot removal. The paintwork was then clay-barred to remove further embedded dirt in the paint. The surface was then prepared to correct/polish the paintwork.

A single stage correction of the surface removed all but the deepest of scratches which was to the client’s satisfaction. Prior modification of the car meant that some parts of the car had been re-sprayed in-situ. Lacquer overspray was present in areas, mainly along the rear bumper, which was removed during an additional stage of paint correction in this area. The gloss of the rear paintwork was vastly improved as result of this.

The paint correction was followed by the addition of Infinity Wax’s Synergy Lite to give the paintwork a years worth of protection, gloss and a hydrophobicity. The damage to the gold wheel was also touched-up and the remaining paint provided to the client free of charge.

The client also opted to have glass protection applied to all exterior glass surfaces too. This means that the glass needs to be cleaned less often and the driver will find it safer at motorways speeds in the rain.

The result is an Abarth 595 with a near flawless finish looking the best it’s ever been. The service also allowed the client to gain access to our Maintenance valets which use nothing but the safest of washing techniques to ensure this level of marring doesn’t occur again throughout the lifetime of the ceramic coating.
